FINANCING NEW ECONOMIC MODELS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY: WHAT CHANGES, WHAT DRIVERS, WHAT SOLUTIONS ?

Jocelyn DIOUXPascale COURCELLEJulien HOSTACHESylvie PERRIN
Description
After two decades of growth driven by public support mechanisms and relatively predictable revenues, renewable energy is entering a new phase of development. The rise of energy storage, hybrid systems, self-consumption, private power purchase agreements (PPAs), and the value of flexibility and system services: revenue streams are diversifying while market exposure is increasing. This evolution marks a profound shift for both project developers and financiers. How can assets whose revenues now rely on multiple economic pillars be evaluated and financed? Are traditional project financing models still appropriate? What new financial tools, guarantees, and structures will support innovation while managing risks ? Banks, investors, specialized funds, public sector stakeholders, and crowdfunding platforms will share their analyses and insights to shed light on the changes currently underway. They will explore ways to mobilize the capital needed to deploy next-generation renewable energy sources and accelerate the emergence of projects that combine generation, storage, flexibility, and energy services. While investment needs remain substantial to meet climate and energy goals, this roundtable will examine the financial ecosystem’s capacity to support this paradigm shift and to build the business models that will shape the renewable energy sector of tomorrow.
