Employment in France: distribution of sectors in renewable energy
The objectives of the Employment Training Pavilion:
Inform professional audiences about job transformation, skills and training.
Advise companies on solutions adapted to their recruitment and/or training needs (financing, assistance, schemes).
Putting companies offering jobs in the renewable energies sector in touch with their future employees.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), the number of jobs in the renewable energy sector worldwide “will rise from 13.7 million in 2022 to16.2 million in 2023“. Nearly 7.1 million jobs worldwide (40% of them women) are concentrated in solar photovoltaics, representing more than a third of the workforce working in renewable energies. Nearly 45% of the world’s energy workers are highly skilled, compared with around 25% in the economy as a whole.
In France, employment in this sector is experiencing a growing demand for qualified professionals. More than half of these jobs are in the manufacture and installation of equipment, and in preliminary studies for renewable energies (source Ministère de la transition énergétique).
Integrating ecological concerns into economic activity means transforming jobs, skills and training.Anticipating these transformations is crucial to the success of the energy transition.

France Travail was present at the Pavillon Emploi Formation, Hall B3, on December 10 and 11, 2025. Advisors were on hand to discuss and advise companies on their recruitment and job retention needs, as well as to qualify their skills requirements (in line with the training courses listed in the PRIC, drawn up by the Occitanie Pyrénées-Méditerranée Regional Council) and introduce them to the Employer's area.
